The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 a fitting requital, 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
