The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
