The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 and gathered his people together 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
