The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
