The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
