He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olives and palms 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
