The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
