The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
