The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and brightening morning, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
