The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and brightening morning, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
