The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
