The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
