The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
