The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
