The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
