The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And it is not amusement. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
