The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
