Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
