Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
