Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the dawn, 1 and the ten nights, 2 Consider the multiple and the One! 3 And by oath of the night when it recedes 4 Why is there an oath in this, for the intelligent? 5 Did you not see how did your Lord deal with (the tribe of) Aad? 6 [the people of] Iram the many-pillared, 7 the like of which was never created in the countries? 8 And how did He deal with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the valley? 9 And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? - 10 Who (all) were rebellious (to Allah) in these lands, 11 And made therein much mischief. 12 Thus, your Lord afflicted them with torment; 13 Lo! thy Lord is ever watchful. 14 As for man, whenever his Lord tries him, and honours him, and blesses him, then he says, 'My Lord has honoured me.' 15 And when He proveth him, and so stinteth unto him his provision, he saith: 'my Lord hath despised me. 16 Not at all but rather you do not honour the orphan. 17 And do not urge one another to feed the needy. 18 And ye devour inheritance - all with greed, 19 And you harbour intense love for wealth. 20 No! But when the earth quakes and is pounded, 21 And when the command of your Lord comes and the angels row by row, 22 And the Hell on that Day shall be brought nigh. On that Day man shall remember, but how will remembrance avail him? 23 He will say: 'Would that I had forwarded (good works) for my life!' 24 Upon that day none shall chastise as He chastises, 25 and Allah will bind as none other can bind. 26 O the contented soul! 27 return to your Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing. 28 enter, then, together with My [other true] servants 29 yea, enter thou My paradise!" 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
