The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And accepts the best, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
