The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
