And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
