When you set out at dawn from your home to assign battle positions to the believers -- God hears all and knows all. 121 When two parties from among you had determined that they should show cowardice, and Allah was the guardian of them both, and in Allah should the believers trust. 122 And assuredly Allah had succoured you at Badr while ye were humble. Wherefore fear Allah that haply ye may return thanks. 123 When thou didst say unto the believers: Is it not sufficient for you that your Lord should support you with three thousand angels sent down (to your help)? 124 "Yea, - if ye remain firm, and act aright, even if the enemy should rush here on you in hot haste, your Lord would help you with five thousand angels Making a terrific onslaught. 125 Allah did not make this to be except as glad tidings for you, so that your hearts might be comforted. Victory comes only from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise. 126 So He may cut off a part of the disbelievers, or disgrace them so that they return unsuccessful. 127 (Muhammad), it is not your concern whether He forgives them or punishes them for they are unjust. 128 Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth belong to God. He forgives whoever He pleases and punishes whoever He pleases. God is most forgiving and ever merciful. 129
