The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Ra. Those are the signs of the Book and of a manifest Koran. 1 Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam. 2 (Muhammad), leave them alone to eat and enjoy themselves and let their desires deceive them; they will soon know (the Truth). 3 And We have not destroyed a town but there was therefor a decree known. 4 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 5 They say: 'You to whom the Remembrance is sent down, you are indeed mad. 6 Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?" 7 We send not the angels down save with judgment, and then they would not be respited. 8 Surely We have revealed the Reminder and We will most surely be its guardian. 9 AND, INDEED, [O Prophet,] even before thy time did We send [Our apostles] unto communities of old 10 And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him. 11 Even so we make a way for it in the hearts of the culprits. 12 They will not believe in it, though they have before them the example of former peoples, 13 Yet even had We opened to them a gateway to heaven and they had ascended, on and on, up to it, 14 They would only say: "Our eyes have been intoxicated: Nay, we have been bewitched by sorcery." 15
