So when the envoys came to the household of Lot, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said, “These are my guests – do not dishonour me.” 68 "And fear Allah and disgrace me not." 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
