۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said: "You and your fathers were in clear error." 54 They exclaimed, "Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?" 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 Then he made them fragments, all except the big one of them, that haply unto it they may return. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 They said: "We heard a youth talk about them. He is called Abraham." 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may bear witness." 61 They said, 'So, art thou the man who did this unto our gods, Abraham?' 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 And so they turned upon one another, saying, "Behold, it is you who are doing wrong." 64 Then were they confounded with shame: (they said), "Thou knowest full well that these (idols) do not speak!" 65 Abraham said, "So, do you worship something instead of God that can neither benefit you nor harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They exclaimed: "Burn him, and [thereby] succour your gods, if you are going to do [anything]!" 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 They sought to outwit him, but We made them the worst of losers. 70 And We delivered him as well as Lut (removing them) to the land which We had blessed for all people. 71 And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac), and (a grandson) Ya'qub (Jacob). Each one We made righteous. 72 We made them leaders who guided people by Our command. We revealed to them the doing of good, observance of prayer and the giving of alms and Us alone did they worship. 73 And to Lut, too, We gave Judgment and Knowledge, and We saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to Evil, a rebellious people. 74 And We brought him in unto Our mercy. Lo! he was of the righteous. 75
