The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
