And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 no caring friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
