Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those whom you used to worship?" 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
