And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And indeed your Lord - only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
