Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 Do not betray me 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 no loyal friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
