And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
