And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
