(The tribe of) A’ad denied the Noble Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 Do you build monuments on every high place in vanity, 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 So be fearful of God and follow me. 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 this is nothing but a habit of the ancients: 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
