The tribe of Thamud also rejected the messengers. 141 when their brother Salih said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 So fear Allah and obey me. 144 I ask of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 145 “Will you be left peacefully in these favours over here?” 146 “In gardens and water springs?” 147 farms, and palm-trees in thick groves, 148 "And you carve houses out of mountains with great skill. 149 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me; 150 And do not obey the bidding of the extravagant, 151 who do corruption in the earth, and set not things aright.' 152 They said: Thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us: then bring us a Sign, if thou tellest the truth!" 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel; it has a right to drink (water), and you have a right to drink (water) (each) on a day, known. 155 And touch her not with ill, lest there take hold of you the torment of a Mighty Day. 156 But they cruelly slaughtered her - and then they had cause to regret it: 157 and the punishment seized them. Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 158 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 159
