The unbelievers have said, "Shall we and our fathers be brought out of the graves after we become dust? 67 We and our fathers were promised this before; these are but old stories." 68 Say: "Go ye through the earth and see what has been the end of those guilty (of sin)." 69 But grieve not over them, nor distress thyself because of their plots. 70 And they ask: 'When will this promise come, if what you say is true' 71 Say: "Perhaps some of what you wish to hasten is right behind you." 72 Surely thy Lord is bountiful to men; but most of them are not thankful. 73 But, verily, thy Sustainer knows all that their hearts conceal as well as all that they bring into the open: 74 And there is nothing hidden in the heaven or the earth but it is in a clear Record. 75 Surely, this Koran relates to the Children of Israel most of that which they are at variance. 76 And indeed, it is guidance and mercy for the believers. 77 Surely your Lord in His wisdom will decide between them. He is all-mighty and all-knowing. 78 Wherefore put thy trust in Allah; verily thou art on manifest truth. 79 Verily, you cannot make the dead to hear (i.e. benefit them and similarly the disbelievers), nor can you make the deaf to hear the call, when they flee, turning their backs. 80 just as thou canst not lead the blind [of heart] out of their error; none canst thou make hear save such as [are willing to] believe in Our messages, and thus surrender themselves unto Us. 81 ۞ And when the Word falls on them, We will bring out from the earth a beast that shall speak to them: 'Indeed the people were not certain of Our verses.' 82
