۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
