And Jonah too was one of the Messengers. 139 He fled to the overloaded ship. 140 And then they cast lots, and he was the one who lost; 141 The fish swallowed him up and he deserved (all this). 142 And were he not one of those who praise. – 143 he would indeed have remained in its belly till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow up for him a gourdplant. 146 And We sent him towards a hundred thousand people, in fact more. 147 And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad SAW): "Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?" 149 Or did We make the angels females, and they witnessed it? 150 Is it not a lie invented by them when they say: 151 'God has begotten?' They are truly liars. 152 Does He prefer sons to daughters? 153 What is amiss with you and your judgment? 154 Will you then not take heed? 155 Do you have clear authority? 156 Then produce your scriptures, if you are telling the truth. 157 They assert kinship between Him and the angels. But the angels know that they (the liars) will be arraigned (in Hell). 158 Glory be to Allah (for freedom) from what they describe; 159 Not thus, however, [behave] God's true servants: 160 So surely you and what you worship, 161 Can mislead anyone away from Him, 162 except him who shall roast in the Blazing Fire. 163 [The angels say], "Every single one of us has his place assigned: 164 Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks, 165 and, verily, we too extol His limitless glory!" 166 They used to say before: 167 Had we a reminder from those of yore, 168 we would surely have been Allah's chosen servants.” 169 but they have rejected it, [the Quran] and they shall soon learn! 170 And surely Our word has gone forth respecting Our servants, the messengers: 171 that they shall receive Our help 172 And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. 173 So turn away from them for a while. 174 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 175 Do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards – so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 So turn (O Muhammad SAW) away from them for a while, 178 And watch; they will come to know soon. 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 And peace upon the messengers. 181 And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds. 182
