S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 Nay! those who disbelieve are in self-exaltation and opposition. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them. They called: 'The time is neither of escape, nor safety' 3 They were surprised that one of them had come to them as warner; and the unbelievers said: "He is a deceiving sorcerer. 4 They say, "Has he condemned all other gods but One? This is certainly strange". 5 The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. 6 We never heard of this in the former religion. It is nothing but an invention. 7 Has the reminder been revealed to him from among us? Nay! they are in doubt as to My reminder. Nay! they have not yet tasted My chastisement! 8 Or are theirs the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower? 9 Or, is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and that which is in-between the twain? If so, let them ascend by steps. 10 this host too, among other hosts, is bound to suffer defeat. 11 The people of Noah, Ad and the dominating Pharaoh had rejected Our revelations. 12 and Thamood, and the people of Lot, and the men of the Thicket - those were the parties; 13 There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: 14
