Tell them: "O my creatures who have come to belief, have fear of displeasing your Lord. There is good for those who do good in this world, and productive is God's earth. Only those who persevere will get their reward measureless." 10 Say: 'I have been commanded to serve God making my religion His sincerely; 11 and I have been commanded to be the first of those that surrender.' 12 Say thou: verily I fear, if I disobeyed my Lord, torment of a Day mighty. 13 Say: "God alone do I worship, sincere in my faith in Him alone 14 (As for yourselves) worship what you will, other than Him' Say: 'The losers are surely those who lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Is that not a clear loss' 15 They will have sheets of fire above them and sheets of fire beneath them." That is how God puts fear into the hearts of His servants. Fear me, then, My servants. 16 And those who avoid the devils lest they should worship them and turn unto Allah in penitence, for them are glad tidings. Wherefore give thou glad tidings unto My bondmen, 17 Those who listen to the Word, and follow the best (meaning) in it: those are the ones whom Allah has guided, and those are the ones endued with understanding. 18 Can you save from the Fire he whom against the word of punishment has been realized? 19 But those who fear Allah and keep their duty to their Lord (Allah), for them are built lofty rooms; one above another under which rivers flow (i.e. Paradise). (This is) the Promise of Allah: and Allah does not fail in (His) Promise. 20 Do you not see that God sends down water from the sky, then makes it flow in rills on the earth, and brings forth corn from it which, having passed through changes of shade and colour, comes to ripen, and you see it autumnal yellow; then He reduces it to chaff. There are indeed lessons in this for those who are wise. 21
