Hath there come unto thee the story of Ibrahim's honoured guests? 24 When they came to him and said, “Peace”; he answered, “Peace”; and thought, “These people are not familiar.” 25 Then he turned away privately unto his household, and brought a calf fatted. 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 Then he conceived a fear about them, and they said: 'Have no fear', and gave him the glad tidings that he was to have a knowledgeable son. 28 And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!" 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: And (afterward) what is your errand, O ye sent (from Allah)? 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 That we may send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 We saved all the faithful in the town. 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 And in the tribe of A’ad, when we sent a dry windstorm upon them. 41 It left not aught whereon it came but it made it as matter decayed. 42 And in Samood: When it was said to them: Enjoy yourselves for a while. 43 But they rebelled against their Lord's decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed; 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. 46
