The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!) 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 truly did he see some of the most profound of his Sustainer's symbols. 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 All that is in the life to come and all that is in this life belongs only to God. 25
