The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 He hath created man. 3 and He has taught him the Explanation. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 grain with its husk and aromatic herbs. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
