The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He created man. 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 And the heaven! He hath elevated it, and He hath set the balance. 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 but weigh things equitably and skimp not in the balance. 9 He spread out the earth for the people. 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 He is the Lord of the East and West through all seasons. 17 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 There is a barrier between them. They encroach not (one upon the other). 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
