The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 there is no denying its coming 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And shade extended 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
