The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and flowing water 31 and abundant fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
