Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Lo! We sent Noah unto his people (saying): Warn thy people ere the painful doom come unto them. 1 [Noah] said, "My people! I am but a plain warner to you, 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 He said: “My Lord, I called my people by night and by day, 5 But my call has only made them flee the more: 6 And verily so oft as I call them, that Thou mayest forgive them, they place their fingers into their ears, and wrap themselves with their garments, and persist, and are stiff-necked. 7 Then I invited them publicly. 8 "Further I have spoken to them in public and secretly in private, 9 "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver. 10 He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you, 11 rain from the sky, 12 "'What is amiss with you that you cannot look forward to God's majesty, 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 Behold ye not in what wise Allah hath created seven heavens in storeys. 15 And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? 16 "'And God has caused you to grow out of the earth in [gradual] growth; and thereafter He will return you to it [in death]: 17 He will then return you back to it, and bring you out again. 18 And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse 19 so that you walk in its spacious paths.' 20
