The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 And your clothing purify 4 And stay away from idols. 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons present by his side. 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
