The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 And your garments do purify, 4 And stay away from idols. 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
